NOCO Committee May Meeting
5/2/2019 - 5/2/2019

Event Description
SEAC Members,

We have rescheduled the April NOCO Meeting. Please join us the morning of May 2, 2019 for a presentation regarding welding inspection and testing for building construction. In addition, each SEAC member who would like the chance will have the opportunity to try their hand at welding. LPR Construction has generously offered to host our meeting and open their welding training facility for our members to get firsthand welding experience.
The first part of our meeting will consist of a presentation by Ben Cook of Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates, Inc. who will be speaking about welding inspection and weld testing requirements for building construction. Ben will be discussing things that we as the Engineer of Record (EOR) can look for when on job sites to determine if welds appear acceptable or if there may be a concern with the quality of welds. Ben will also be speaking about the 4 main welding procedures commonly used in building construction as well as testing options to make sure that welds are installed correctly, testing options if problems or concerns arise, and tests or inspections required for full penetration, partial penetration welds, etc.
The second portion of our meeting will consist of a firsthand opportunity to try your hand at welding. As mentioned, LPR Construction has generously offered to open their training facility for our SEAC members to show off their skills as well as experience how challenging it is to strike an arc and make a weld.
